North East (NE): Zone of Clarity and Mind

The North-East zone in any space is the zone of wisdom and meditation. Foresights, Intuition, Vision, inspiration, all come from this zone .This zone is the best place for the puja room. Meditation and worship performed in this zone fill you with inner strength and wisdom  and inspire you to grow and succeed. The energy of this zone brings clarity in the thought process, apart from calming the mind.

            Many times, you feel lost and burdened with confusing thoughts. Life seems to stagnate with no prospects of growth or change. What is even more frustrating is that you cannot think of any way out of this mental block. The energy of this zone removes all blockages in your mind. It not only starts your spiritual development, but also helps you to visualize a path for your success in life’s everyday affairs.

Making Puja Place in This Zone Gives Ideas, Clarity and Wisdom

The north-East corner governs new ideas, mental clarity and wisdom. Any (new) thoughts contains some desire within it.

Any thought that comes from Vigyanmaya Kosha, which contains the desire of some expression; we call it an ‘idea’. The mind must be receptive (inwardly focused to it

  In the normal course of life, the mind is always focused externally. There are few people who have a receptive mind in their conscious state: a mind that can receive in a conscious state is rare. Nature has connected this cycle with the deep sleep state. The mind becomes receptive during sleep.     

       If we observe, we have a list of action-agenda for the entire day which says “I need to do this or that” It is only during the calm or quiet moments that you are able to introspect about ‘what I should do’. This point was pondered upon or understood quite deeply in Vecic space alchemy.

The Vedic space alchemists say, that the moment we clasp our hands, close our eyes and connect ourselves to the supreme power, that moment we desire some blessing and become receptive. They realised that the mind was most receptive in the morning, so they recommended it as the best time for worship.

The puja room or place is a zone of such energy that merely sitting there enhances receptivity. The North-East zone governs our receptivity, clarity and wisdom.So this zone has the energy to make us receptive to latent knowledge (from the Anandmaya and Vigyanmaya Kosha), ideas useful in life, and the strength to solve the problems.

Therefore, a place of worship or temple is recommended (by vastu shastra here). We need not meditate there daily, but a symbolic placing of our Ishta devta here ensures that connection of our ( with higher Self)),subtly,

The other important consideration is what will happen if this temple is placed in some other (energy) zone? The energy of that zone will affect the activity of your connectivity.

There is a zone (South-South-West, the ‘zone of disposal’) in a building (we will discuss that in detail, later) which disposes off all the waste or unimportant things. If the temple (or puja place) is placed here, then this connectivity is literally disposed off.

Because it would mean that you are telling the space inside your building that you want to dispose of this connectivity. It may be noted that people with temples or puja rooms in the zone of disposal, feel utterly confused, blocked and disconnected. This leads to dissatisfaction, depression.

Likewise, in whichever energy zone (in our home) the place of worship or introspection or meditation is, it imbibes the quality of that zone. Our meditational experience or attention or concentration and tenor of concentration will vary accordingly to.

That is why a temple (place of worship or prayer room) should be made in the North-East,so as to fulfill the purpose of worship, i.e., getting connected with Isha devta or inner self. This will facilitate  your intuition to operate and govern your life with wisdom.
