North of North-West (NNW): Attraction and Sex

The North-North-West zone is one of attraction.

In vastu shastra, the North-North-West zone has been termed as the zone of Rati (goddess of sex). So, it is considered to be the best for newly married couples. It is also a good place for people who want to get married, or are seeking companionship. This zone governs sexual enjoyment. 

If we look a little deeper at its functioning through space alchemy, we must analyse its implications for all three Koshas. The mind perceives attractive information through the five senses; it percolates from the Energy body to the Mind  body.

Before any object or process can be enjoyed, there develops an  image or thought develops in the mind. This is followed by a thought process or notion that will bring great joy or bliss.

According to the scriptures, all objects which make an experience, being happy, is only a thought process. In reality, happiness or bliss lies in the Anandmaya Kosha. When the mind really receives bliss, its channel is not the energy of the physical body.

Nature has its own rules to govern the life cycle. She has done a default setting in each of us to make our mind experience happiness, every moment, with the help of the five senses; through the Physical body (Annmaya shareer) and energy body (Pranmaya shareer). That is why the curious mind eagerly searches for this sense of gratification.

The attraction in this zone is further enhanced by the senses, when we experience it the way we want to. The energy in this zone heightens the senses’ experience’ hence it is the zone of sex and attraction - from pleasure of the body to those derived from accessories, like we have discussed in the earlier zone of support.

An automobile supports our movements, and is useful - a vehicle three lakhs rupees. However, an automobile costing two crore rupees will provide a sense of luxury. The objects which provide bodily convenience will cost less than those which give the Energy body with pleasure will cost even more.

A painting, a picture, which is not used by the body or the senses, provides the mind with pleasure. Objects that are attracted from the smallest to the largest scale heightens the experience of the senses and invigorates the imagination of mind.

The power of something that is attractive should never be underestimated. What attracts us can also enslave us - that is why the tantra says, it is important to use the energy of this zone judiciously.

There are different effects of meditation in different zones. The effect of this zone is largely associated with energy and mind bodies. That is why the energy of this North-North-West zone has been used beautifully for meditation.

In tantrik meditation, which forms a large part of the Hindu alchemy, energies of this zone play a significant part. These are used to go beyond all these experiences of (power of) attraction, imagination, and heightening of experiences of the senses making the body work according, to reach the Vigyanmaya Kosha.

Other than this, every other situation or object or effect we wish to attract is related to this zone. I observed the location of each object that I bought, whether it was a pen or watch or painting.

Whenever an object is placed in this zone of the building and you take it in your hands there only, immediately, a thought process starts inside your mind - I will feel deep pleasure from it or from its usage. With that thought you, finally, buy it.

I always found higher sales of the brands or objects which were placed in this zone. They attract and people, usually, buy them more. However, after bringing such objects home, if you keep them in the South West zone, you will realize that these are never used and do not really prove useful, because it is the zone of knowledge, which deems these inessential and so, you never use them. The North-North-West zone has that capability to heighten the senses.

It should be kept in mind that there should be no toilets and no fire element in this zone. This is because fire will burn out the attraction. A man who is quick to temper can never attract anyone easily as he loses his charm and personality.

This zone heightens the sensual experience that attracts and provides sexual pleasure. If we pay attention to the zones before and after it: the zone of storage (support) and the zone of treasure (money), respectively, then it is clear that what we have stored and what we offer to the world, will produce the corresponding quality of attraction in us (as we give, so we receive).

So, this zone of attraction is created out of what we have in store along with what we wish to offer to the world - object, idea, service. This is not only the zone of attraction but the zone of enjoyments (bhog) also.

Here, I do not mean by bhog of Physical body but all the enjoyments of the world. This zone generates the power to help you enjoy all pleasure possible, all the pleasure in totality by the body and the mind.
